Peanut came from an animal shelter, along with biscuit & Jigsaw, we bought the three kittens back to
our new home but the next morning biscuit & jigsaw had died from some viral infection. I told my
daughter we weren't having any more kittens but after a few months we could see that Peanut was
lonely. So off to the animal shelter we went again and got Garfield & Pop just to keep Peanut happy.

As all three cats were different colours of ginger they soon become known as the 'Ginger Crew'
Peanut was the boss and used to make us laugh the way he would slap the other two if they were being
naughty or disturbing him.

One day we noticed that Peanut was wobbling on his feet and took him to the vet who said it was an
ear infection, but no medication made him better. We soon found out that Peanut had dry phipps its a
disease that slowly attacks the brain, there is nothing anyone can do. The vet told me to bring him
in when I thought he had had enough, how can you name a date that your pet is going to die - I
couldn't do it!

I nursed Peanut for 6 weeks he just sat on my knee all day wanting cuddles, at night he used to
climb under my duvet and curl up on my stomach.

Then one day I got up and I could see that Peanut could take no more, I wanted him to go with a bit
of dignity, I called my friend who drove me to the vets and it was the hardest thing I ever had to
do! I couldn't go in with him, my friend took him, I said my goodbyes in the car.

We still have Garfield and Pop and just sometimes in bed I can feel a cat jump on the bed and when I
look there isnt one there - I know its you Peanut. We miss you very much baby xxx

Letter From Heaven

Dear Peanut,

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there, I did not die.

~ Lend Me A Kitten ~

I will lend to you for a while
a kitten, God said.
For you to love while she lives,
and mourn when she's dead.
Maybe for twelve or fourteen years,
or maybe two or three
But will you, 'till I call her back,
take care of her for me?

She'll bring her charms to gladden you
and should her stay be brief,
you'll always have her memories
as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise she will stay,
since all from earth return.
But there are lessons taught below
I want this kitten to learn.

I've looked the whole world over
in search of teachers true,
And from the folk that crowds life's land
I have chosen you.
Now will you give her all your love,
nor think the labor vain?
Nor hate me when I come to take
my kitten home again?

And my heart replied,
"My Lord, Thy Will Be Done."
For all the joys this kitten brings,
the risk of grief I'll run.
I'll shelter her with tenderness,
I'll love her while I may
And for the happiness that I've known,
forever grateful stay.

But should you call her back
much sooner than I planned,
I'll brave the bitter grief that comes,
and try to understand.
If by my love I've managed
your wishes to achieve,
in memory of her sweet sweet love,
please help me while I grieve.

When my cherished kitten
departs this world of strife,
Please send yet another needing soul
for me to love all her life.

Remember Our Love

I was chosen today
I'm learning to fly
the world took me away,
but please don't you cry

And I chose you today
to try and be strong
so please don't you cry
and don't say that I'm gone

When you're feeling alone
just remember our love,
I'm up near the stars
looking down from above.

Remember our love
In a moment you'll see
that I'm still here beside you
when you're thinking of me.

Beyond the Rainbow

As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade.
I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.

I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful -- lush and green and wide!
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be!
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.

I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright Glow pierced the night.
'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold.

For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,
We are still connected by a cord no eye can see.
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.

Don't be sad you had to end my pain,
and know that you will see me once again.
God's given me a place to wait for you,
and you know what? He says He loves me too!

There's lots of different critters all around,
in Heaven there's no evil to be found.
So all of us just seem to get along,
and Angels serenade us with their songs.

People here are kind they stroke my fur,
and they all seem to love it when I purr.
I'm no longer sick so I am glad,
please don't fill your days by being sad.

I haven't really gone that far away,
and I'm really looking forward to the day,
that we can be together up above,
in this land of peace and happiness and love.
